Whitney Elizabeth Houston, born 9 August 1963, to a musically inclined family in Newark New Jersey is the daughter of gospel star Cissy Houston as well as John Russell Houston Jr. They are also cousins of singer Dionne Warwick. Although the film was not very well received, nor did her performance, the music of the film's Dolly Parton version I Will Always Love You reached the number one spot on both singles and albums charts in the United States for months. It sold 44,000,000 copies. In the same year she had her daughter Bobbi Brown, she got married to Bobby Brown of the ex-New Edition group. Her drug addiction began at this point and in 1996, she'd been a frequent user.
